Electors of the Division of Whitsunday draws to the attention of the House their objection to the proposal by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) to build a fire station at the corner of Macarthur Drive and Shute Harbour Road, Cannonvale due to the inappropriate location and land zoning of the proposed site and other matters including:

1. negative impact upon the current housing crisis;

2. heavy traffic and intersection of the proposed site;

3. noise and light impacts on neighbouring residential dwellings; and

4. lack of community consultation by QFES.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to engage with local government and community to find a more suitable site in Cannonvale for the proposed fire station.
